As reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, Edin Terzić will remain as Borussia Dortmund next season.
Despite a rather disappointing Bundesliga campaign, Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl is expected to announce the club’s decision in the coming weeks.
BVB currently sit 5th in the table, just outside of the Champions League by +1 goal difference to RB Leipzig.
However, having reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, the club not only have the chance to potentially win the tournament but achieve Champions League football next term regardless.
This is because of the new Champions League format and two extra European spaces up for grabs. As it stands, the Italian and German leagues will receive the additional spots due to the country’s performances in European competitions this season.
Meaning 5th position in the Bundesliga would achieve Champions League football next season.
This will be boosted should Bayern Munich beat Arsenal in the quarter-final tie.
What’s more, BVB will bring in significant revenue from reaching the final four for the first time since 2013.
As a result, Borussia Dortmund are already likely to have exceeded €100m in Champions League revenue with their home game against Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final not yet taken into account.
