Interim England manager Lee Carsley has reportedly handed an emergency call-up to an uncapped youngster in the wake of an injury crisis to key senior stars, according to reports.

Carsley is overseeing his final England camp ahead of Thomas Tuchel‘s arrival and will be without several veteran players for upcoming Nations League clashes against Greece and Republic of Ireland.

The 50-year-old has previously shown a nuanced approach to his squad selection by picking the likes of Lille midfielder Angel Gomes and bringing in other players previously on the fringes of the national.

Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Newcastle full-back Lewis Hall were the latest talents to have been given a late nod by Carsley as he continues to put his faith in young players.

Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice are doubts for the international break and could pull out of the England squad after suffering injuries in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

The 22-year-old was one of the surprise omissions from Lee Carsley‘s final England squad after a brilliant start to the season with three Premier League strikes and impressing in the Champions League.
