Erik ten Hag has admitted that he is unsure about the severity of Luke Shaw‘s latest injury but claims ‘it doesn’t look great’.

The England international was forced off during Manchester United‘s 2-1 win over Luton at Kenilworth Road on Sunday, having been a surprise inclusion in the Dutchman’s starting XI.

Shaw had been taken off in the win over Aston Villa the week prior as a precaution but had past a late fitness test to be involved against Rob Edward’s side.

The Red Devils defender did not appear to be in discomfort as he left the field but was spotted hobbling following the victory over the Hatters.

Ten Hag revealed that the team will have to wait to discover the extent of the injury but he admitted that the signs do not look good.

‘I can’t tell,’ he told BBC Radio Five Live. ‘We have to wait minimum until tomorrow to see what’s going on. Clear, when you come off, it doesn’t look great.’

The 28-year-old has been plagued by injuries this season, missing 10 league games with a muscle problem sustained during the second game of the campaign.

Shaw was replaced by Victor Lindelof on Sunday for the second consecutive game as United claimed their fifth win on the bounce in all competitions.

Next up for Ten Hag’s side is a visit from Fulham and a fifth round FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest before the Manchester derby on March 3.

United’s mid-season resurgence has seen them move to within three points of Tottenham and just five behind Aston Villa in fourth.
