Erik ten Hag denies that Casemiro left Old Trafford at half-time of Manchester United's defeat to Liverpool
Erik ten Hag claims that Casemiro did not go off at half-time during Manchester United's defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils were beaten 3-0 at home by their rivals, with Luis Díaz and Mohamed Salah Leading the Reds to victory.
It was a poor performance all round for Manchester United, but the focus was on the veteran midfielder. Casemiro.
The Brazilian was replaced by Premier League debutant Toby Collyer at half-time after Casemiro's errors led to Liverpool and Díaz's two goals in the first half.
There were then claims that Casemiro left Old Trafford at half-time after being substituted.
However, Ten Hag insists that this was not the case.
He told talkSPORT: “That's not true. I was in the dressing room.”
“I just met him.”
Casemiro signed for Manchester United from real Madrid for £70m two years ago.
He quickly became a fan favorite and was sorely missed when he was ruled out of games due to a suspension.
The midfielder, now 32, has been unable to deliver the form he had at the start of his career, when he won five Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles.
The Red Devils signed Manuel Ugarte for an initial amount of £42 million Paris Saint-Germain This summer.
The midfielder received a warm reception as he paraded in front of Manchester United fans ahead of their defeat to Liverpool.
And he is likely to soon replace Casemiro if the Brazilian continues to struggle.
Asked what impact Ugarte will have on the team, Ten Hag said: “It's not like he's Harry Potter.
“That's what you have to admit.”
