It had been speculated that ten witchesThe position would not survive the break, as it was suggested that his poor start to the season would force club bosses to intervene.

united man They picked up just eight points from their first seven Premier League games and were embarrassed on more than one occasion with heavy defeats against Liverpool and Tottenham.

They are 14th in the Premier League standings, with their next opponents Brentford currently three places ahead of them.

Despite earning a goalless draw in an uneventful match against Aston Villa just before half-time, many noted that Ten Hag's position was far from secure.

However, Ten Hag remains, albeit now under even more pressure to start delivering results with a team that has not looked convincing at the best of times this season.

And when the media asked him if he had received guarantees from above about his position, the Dutchman answered no.

But he also had some scathing words for some of his critics, as he seemed to indicate that he felt secure in his job.

“The noise is only coming from some of you in the media,” he said. “Create stories and fairy tales and spread lies.

“The journalists did not believe me. I saw the reports. Of course, we are not happy with the situation we find ourselves in.

“In short, internally we are calm and serene. We are sticking to the plan and we are very convinced that it will be a success.”

However, even Ten Hag admitted that improvement was needed in many areas for Man United to emerge from the season with some successes.

“We have to climb a mountain, that is top-level football and sometimes we have to face challenges,” he admitted.

“Sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down, but I'm sure we'll make it a success like we did the last two seasons.

Manchester United fan goes on EPIC rant revealing damning statistics exposing club as a 'MIDDLE SIDE OF THE TABLE'

“I think we are in a direction, deep down I see good things, I see good patterns, I also see good statistics that confirm that we are in a good direction, but the ranking does not lie. We are where we are and it is not good enough.

“I think the players are doing well, we won last season. Maybe you forgot and when we have problems sometimes we have to field teams that were not in the right balance because the players were not available.

“But, in general, the players play well and now we have to start scoring and that part is the most important in football.

“If you want to win games you have to score goals. We have to improve that part.”

“We are entering the final third, we are entering the area, we are in good positions to score, but now we have to take a step forward and the most important thing is to score.”

Man United have only scored five goals in the Premier League this season; only Southampton have scored less with four, and Crystal Palace have also scored five.

To make matters worse, the club's injury list is now longer with Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire are now out “for a couple of weeks.”

Losing Mainoo will be a huge blow for Man United as the midfielder is often one of the team's brightest sparks.

Ten Hag also specifically commented on the continued absences of Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shawwith both left backs sidelined.

A frustrating situation for the United boss, no doubt, but he insisted it was important to exercise caution when it came to his reintegration.

“We can't force his return,” Ten Hag said. “We have to do it very carefully.

“We want them as soon as possible and we need a left back, that's for sure. But we don't want to bring them back and lose them.”
