Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said Lisandro Martínez is desperate to play against Arsenal in the Premier League.

The Red Devils host their fierce rivals at Old Trafford on Sunday and ahead of the game, United received some good news on the injury front.

Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford could all be involved, but Martínez will not be in this weekend's matchday squad.

He has just returned from a long-term injury and Ten Hag has revealed that he will not play alongside Martinez despite his enthusiasm to face the Gunners.

He said: “Lisandro Martínez is desperate to play, he wanted to play against Arsenal but it's too early.”

“I would never bet on a player's physical condition. It's about them and their future.

“That's the most important thing. I have to take responsibility for it.”

United face a must-win situation against Arsenal or they could fall behind in the race to qualify for the Europa League or Conference League.
