Erling Haaland beats four Wolves to overtake legendary Man United trio in record books

Erling Haaland scored four goals against Wolves to strengthen Man City's title aspirations.

The Norwegian star took on Gary O'Neil's side and helped them to a 5-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland's quadruple goal surplus meant he recorded the 21st hat-trick of his career and sixth since arriving in the Premier League almost two years ago.

Those hat-tricks allowed the City star to overcome a trio of manchester united legends – Ruud van Nistelrooy, Robin van Persie and Dimitar Berbatov – in the Premier League record books.

Two of Haaland's shots came from the penalty spot and the other two came from open play.

Those efforts meant Haaland now has 25 Premier League goals this season, as well as 36 in all competitions.

While still a hugely impressive figure, it is still a little short of last season's staggering 52 goals in all competitions.

Their efforts put Manchester City back within one point of Arsenal at the top of the table following their 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

However pep guardiolaCrucially, the team still has a game in hand, meaning they hold the cards in the race for the Premier League title.

Next up for Manchester City are trips to face Fulham and Tottenham, before facing West Ham at home on the final day of the season.
