Erling Haaland breaks iconic Newcastle star's record by reaching double-digit figures

Erling Haaland has made history by becoming the fastest player to reach ten Premier League goals in a season.

The Norwegian striker found the back of the net in the ninth minute of the decisive title clash with Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, writing his name into the record books in the process.

By reaching ten goals, Haaland broke a record set by a Newcastle United legend.

Before his achievement, it was Mick Quinn who held the record after taking six games to reach ten Premier League goals in 1992/93.

However, Haaland has now achieved that record after an impressive start to the campaign.

City then lost Rodri to a worrying injury and then fell behind in the 22nd minute thanks to a sumptuous left-footed finish from distance from Riccardo Calafiori, but this takes nothing away from Haaland's brilliance.

His effort against Arsenal also meant he has now racked up 100 goals for Manchester City.

The 24-year-old has equalled the time it took Cristiano Ronaldo to reach 100 goals for Real Madrid.

Haaland was not far from achieving that record with his former club Borussia Dortmund Or, the striker scored 86 goals in 89 games for the German giants.

The striker is not far from that kind of record on the international scene either, with 32 goals scored in 35 appearances for Norway.

In fact, he achieved this with Red Bull Salzburg, where he scored no less than 29 goals in 27 games.

A win or draw will see City regain top spot from Liverpool in the Premier League table, while Arsenal started the match in sixth place.
