The most frightening thing about the striker is that he is only 24 years old and already seems destined to go down in the history books.

Haaland has just finished another highly successful season with Manchester City which saw them win their fourth consecutive Premier League title.

Early career

Perhaps destined for footballing greatness, Haaland was born in Leeds while his father, Alfie Haaland, played as a defender at Leeds United At the time.

But soon after he returned to his Norwegian hometown with his family and joined the Bryne academy at the age of five.

Haaland made his senior debut for the club when he was just 15, having already shone in the reserve team for a few months.

It's shocking to imagine now that we know what the striker is capable of, but he failed to score at all during his outstanding season at Bryne.

His coach had initially used him as a winger, but also put him in the centre-forward role, but he was unable to make an impact there either.

His time at Bryne came to an end in 2017 when he was signed by another Norwegian club, Mold.

Mold

Haaland played under a familiar coaching name while at Molde: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

And he fared much better when it came to scoring goals at his new club.

After scoring on his debut, he finished his first season at the club having amassed a total of four goals in 20 appearances, but performed better than in his second season there.

He finished the 2018/19 season as Molde's top scorer with a total of 16 goals in 30 games.

Red Bull Salzburg

Haaland would bid farewell to his home country with his next move, as he was signed by the Austrian club. Red Bull Salzburg in 2019.

He may have only spent one season at the Austrian Bundesliga club, but he certainly made an impact, especially in their Champions League campaign.

He joined an elite club that included the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski becoming one of the only players to have scored in the first five Champions League group stage matches.

When he left Salzburg, he did so with an incredible record: he had scored 29 goals in 27 games, a statistic that had attracted all kinds of attention.

Borussia Dortmund

Dortmund rejected interest from Manchester United and Juventus to secure Haaland as a signing in December 2019, for a fee of around £18m.

And he more than proved his worth at the German club.

His individual accolades include four Bundesliga Player of the Month awards, one Bundesliga Goal of the Month award and the 2020/21 Bundesliga Player of the Season award.

He also helped his team win the German League Cup in the 2020/21 season.

Haaland struggled with a hamstring injury and a hip flexor injury during his final season at Dortmund but still got to 50 Bundesliga goals before leaving.

He also became the youngest player to achieve the feat at 21 years old.

Manchester City

Manchester City secured a sensational deal in the summer of 2022 when they activated Haaland's release clause for £51m.

The Norwegian has never looked back since joining the Premier League side.

In his first season at the club, he was not only instrumental in his side achieving a historic continental treble, but also won the Premier League Golden Boot and the European Golden Boot.

His 36 Premier League goals in 35 appearances also set a new record for the most goals scored in any Premier League season.

The fact that Haaland's second season at Manchester City was seen by some as a quiet one for the striker is a testament to how prolific he has been.

Not to mention he missed nearly two months of the season while recovering from a foot injury.

After all, he still retained the Golden Boot with an impressive 27 goals and had already become the fastest Premier League player to reach 50 goal involvements earlier in the season.

At just 24, he no doubt has many more years of goalscoring brilliance ahead of him at City and wherever he ends up in the future.

If there is one area Haaland would like to see more success in the future, it would be with his national team.

Three Lions fans may rue the fact that the Leeds-born striker turned down the chance to play for England.

But surprisingly, the striker has never participated in a major tournament with Norway failing to qualify for the European Championship or the World Cup during his time with the team.

Despite this, Haaland is now just three goals behind Norway's all-time top scorer, Jorgen Juve.

Norway will already have its sights set on qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, but its prospects in recent years have not looked very good.

For the sake of world football, there will be many desperate for that to change so that a striker of such quality can reach the international stage at some point.
