Napoli have made an approach to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, talkSPORT understands.
The Italian side favour a loan move, but United would prefer a permanent exit, where they value McTominay for up to £30 million.
The sale of the Scottish international would help the Red Devils facilitate the signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.
Erik the Hag has made the addition of a new defensive midfielder a top priority as it looks to provide competition for Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo.
And McTominay could be the man to sacrifice, with any potential sale being pure profit, with the 27-year-old being a product of the club's academy.
Since making his debut in the 2016/17 season, McTominay has scored 29 goals in 253 appearances in all competitions.
He enjoyed his best campaign last season, where he scored ten goals and provided three assists in 43 games.
But her future is up in the air this summer, as her contract at the Theatre of Dreams expires next year.
And United know now is the time to cash in on McTominay to avoid losing him for nothing in 2025.
Turkish giant Galatasaray confirmed last month They were excited to bring the player.
Meanwhile, McTominay also has admirers in the Premier League.
talkSPORT reported in July how Fulham saw a Offer rejected by United after he fell below his valuation.
West Ham, meanwhile, are known to be fans of him, having failed to bring him to east London last summer.
McTominay came off the bench for United last weekend in their defeat to rivals Manchester City in the Community Shield.
He scored in the penalty shoot-out, in which Jadon Sancho and Jonny Evans missed, to give the Citizens victory at Wembley.
And the midfielder is likely to feature in the club's opening Premier League game against Fulham on Friday night.
United host the Cottagers at Old Trafford, which you can listen to Live on talkSPORT.
