Ex-Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper reopens talks with Leicester as Graham Potter pauses on decision
Leicester have reopened talks with Steve Cooper despite verbally agreeing terms with Graham Potter, talkSPORT understands.
We reported that the Foxes believed they were close to formalizing a deal with Potter become his new manager after positive conversations with ex Chelsea and the Brighton boss.
But with Potter stalling and owner Vichai 'Top' Srivaddhanaprahba keen not to delay the appointment too long, former Nottingham Forest manager Cooper is back in the picture.
Potter, who has not been ruled out of the race, has twice rejected Ajax this summer.
The former Seagulls coach has been out of work since April 2023 following his dismissal at Stamford Bridge.
Leicester director of football Jon Rudkin has led the campaign for Potter.
talkSPORT understands there is no problem on personal terms with Potter.
The Foxes had also shortlisted West Brom's Carlos Corberan but would have to pay compensation to the Baggies.
Leicester has been without a coach since Enzo Maresca leaves for Chelsea earlier this summer.
Earlier this month, talkSPORT reported that Cooper was emerging as the main contender for work.
The Welshman has been out of work since leaving Forest in December.
His potential appointment would prove divisive for Foxes fans, given his links to Leicester's East Midlands rivals.
Leicester returned to the Premier League at first request last season, sealing promotion to the top flight as champions.
