Arsenal boasted about their FA Cup record on social media, moments after Manchester United were crowned 2024 champions.
It had literally been seconds after the final whistle at Wembley when the Gunners posted their record 14th win in the competition.
United achieved a surprise 2-1 victory over Man City on Saturday, denying Pep Guardiola's team the double-double as Erik ten Hag conjured a tactical masterclass to end the internal dominance of its noisy neighbors.
And surely there was no coincidence since Arsenal they made their own statement about X as part of a fan survey.
“We have a legacy in the FA Cup like no other team, having lifted the trophy a record 14 times,” the post on the Gunners' X page reads.
It was posted at 5pm, probably timed in advance to coincide with full time for the final at Wembley Stadium.

Most fans saw the funny side of the ironic message, but others did not, with some of the Arsenal faithful suggesting that United “had a better season” after winning a trophy.
“Admin, we know what you're doing,” one Arsenal fan commented with a laughing-crying emoji.
“Love you admin,” another posted, while many others mentioned the “great timing” of the post.
But others were not so impressed.
“This is disgraceful – United had a better season,” read one response, while another said: “This is not the right time, let United enjoy their victory.”
Rival supporters also chipped in, with some posting saying: “You didn't win anything this season” and “Then show us your trophies.”
One Man United fan also pointed out that this year's glory also means Ten Hag has collected more trophies (two: Carabao Cup and FA Cup) in two years in charge at Old Trafford than Mikel Arteta He has been at Arsenal for five seasons (one – FA Cup).
and the truth is manchester united They are not far behind: Saturday's victory over City means the Red Devils now have 13 FA Cup wins in their history, just one behind Arsenal's record.
United have also appeared in more finals (22) than the Gunners (21) in the competition's 153-year history.
But one fan dealt Arsenal the death blow with this response – posting a behind-the-scenes image of the '2023/24 Premier League Champions' staging that was not used when Arteta's men were beaten by the title on the last day of the season.
Oh.
