Bukayo Saka was mocked by fans for limping again during a big game after dropping a ‘stinker’ during Arsenal‘s 2-0 loss to Aston Villa

The England winger played the full 90 minutes of Arsenal’s agonising defeat at the Emirates that deals a hammer blow to their title chances, with Manchester City taking the initiative after Liverpool also lost at home to Crystal Palace

The Gunners missed the chance to go top of the table as Unai Emery‘s men struck late to seal shock victory – with Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins scoring in the final ten minutes of the game.

Saka has had a sensational season for the Gunners, scoring 18 goals during a season that has seen them go all the way in the Premier League, but rival supporters couldn’t help but poke fun at him after watching him go missing against Villa – in what was a crucial game.

Fans have noticed Saka sometimes limps on the pitch when Arsenal lose this season – and spotted him hobbling around the pitch in stoppage time as Mikel Arteta‘s men were about to be consigned to their fifth loss of the season.

Supporters said they had ‘moved beyond’ the Ukrainian left-back while others claimed his performance was a ‘tough watch’.

Another said: ‘If he ever starts a game for Arsenal again with a full squad… It’s an ineptitude of the highest order. Gives the ball away. Gives us nothing with the ball. Has defended terribly for the whole season.’

Arsenal are second after the shock result, just two points off leaders City with six games remaining, but have some tough games to come against Chelsea, Tottenham and Man United.

Arteta, speaking after the game, challenged his players to bounce back immediately and right the wrongs of their display against Villa by seeing off Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Mikel Arteta ordered his shocked Arsenal side to respond ‘with character and leadership’

‘We have the best opportunity to react against Bayern Munich on Wednesday. The team has to show it. If you want to win, you have to overcome these situations,’ said Arteta, who said captain Martin Odegaard was substituted with a ‘leg’ injury.

‘With the games we had, this was going to happen. It is now about how we react. This is in our control.

‘We knew this moment could come, it’s time to react and believe. We have to stand up, make yourself count with leadership and character – we don’t have any other option. Now is a big test for us.

‘If one result (makes us lose our belief) then we are not strong enough. We (Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City) all have to play every three days, it’s crazy.

‘We just have to prepare, go to Munich with big belief – it’s a beautiful opportunity to go to the Champions League semi-finals so it couldn’t come at a better moment.’
