'Feels like West Ham': Premier League fans send public plea for Jose Mourinho to manage their club after wild 'no Europe' claim
José Mourinho wants to manage an English team that does NOT play in Europe and fans are already trying to convince him to come to their club.
'The Special One' gave a post-match interview at the box office this Thursday after being expelled manchester unitedas Fenerbahce drew 1-1 with his former club in the Europa League.
But one section of his interview in particular stuck in the minds of his followers: Mourinho's request for Manage a team in 'England from the bottom of the table' after his time at Fenerbahce.
It didn't take long for fans to start calling talkSPORT and begging the former Chelsea, Man United and Tottenham manager to consider their side.
Newcastle fan Scottie said at the Sports Bar that Mourinho would be a “perfect replacement” for Eddie Howe.
He said: “I would never want Eddie Howe to leave, but what's more, if Eddie Howe was sacked, I would love for José to come in.
“It's the connection with Bobby Robson. Jose Mourinho He was his substitute at Barcelona. It's more the legacy. If Eddie Howe were to leave, as much as I didn't like him, José would be the perfect replacement.”
The Geordies competed in Europe last season after finishing fourth and qualifying for the Champions League the previous season, but a seventh-place finish last season saw them miss out.
Then the talkSPORT producer came and Brentford 'No Tan Dan' fan, as the Bees are yet to have a European campaign since their promotion to the Premier League in 2021.
“I would have him at Brentford in a heartbeat,” he told talkSPORT Breakfast. “I just wanted to say that.
“Yeah Thomas Frank I wanted to leave, to be honest, if Thomas Frank it was not wanting to get out, we are in the round of 16 of the League Cup, let José Mourinho enter.
“You have to remember 10 years ago we were in League One and we got promoted under Mark Warburton. Surely now that we've been in the Premier League for a couple of years, we wouldn't be so snobbish as to say 'no, we don't want José Mourinho'.
“Come on, I'd have it in a heartbeat! Let's go José!
It's easy to see why fans would want Mourinho at their club.
In addition to being an icon of the Premier League for winning the title three times with ChelseaThere is never a dull moment either.
And former Blues defender Jason Cundy believes another London club would be the right place for 'The Special One' to go next – struggling West Ham.
Assessing the teams at the bottom of the table capable of attracting Mourinho, he said: “I could win something for West Ham, I could win them a League Cup, but you know what? It will leave the club under a cloud. “That’s how he always leaves clubs.”
His Sports Bar co-host Jamie O'Hara agreed: “There's only one team that can really catch him and that's not in Europe. It's West Ham. West Ham, just for the stadium, for the club.”
Cundy continued: “He's not going to the (Crystal) Palace. Wolves, Southampton, Ipswich don't need him, Everton. No. It feels like West Ham. “All I can think about is West Ham at the moment.”
The pair debated whether Everton would be a good fit if Sean Dyche's spell didn't work, citing how exciting it would be at the new stadium and in the Merseyside derby.
“Everton and West Ham. Come on, stick your finger out. Go find Mourinho,” O’Hara said.
West Ham, who have won just once in their last five Premier League games, will face Man United at the weekend, and Cundy joked. Erik ten Hag could help facilitate his move to the London Stadium if further pressure piles on Julen Lopetegui.
“Ten Hag could do (Mourinho) a favor,” he said. “Imagine if they beat West Ham, if they beat West Ham. They are at eight points. Would West Ham fans have José?
Mourinho's last spell as a Premier League manager was with Spurs from 2019 to 2021.
He has been at Fenerbahce since the summer after being released by Roma in January.
