Finley Munroe bagged his first senior goal over the weekend, helping loan club Real Unión to a 3-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao B on Saturday.
With Unión already 2-1 up in the Primera Federación Group A clash, a cleared corner made its way to Munroe on the edge of the area. He took one touch before unleashing an unstoppable left-footed drive past the goalkeeper and in off the underside of the crossbar.
The young defender opened his account for the club in style, in a game which also saw James Wright and Yeimar Mosquera complete 90 minutes alongside their Aston Villa teammate.
In League One, there was another goal for Louie Barry on Saturday, who bagged from the penalty spot in the closing stages of Stockport County’s visit of Exeter City, to seal a 2-0 triumph for the Hatters.
The goal was Barry’s 15th of a season in which he continues to excel for Dave Challinor’s side. He remains League One’s top goalscorer, with 14 in 19 outings, and nine in his last 10.
Elsewhere in the third tier, Tommi O’Reilly started and played 77 minutes as Shrewsbury Town fell 4-1 away at Cambridge United. Josh Feeney was an unused substitute for the Shrews.
In the Championship, there was another 90 minutes for Kaine Kesler-Hayden as Preston North End drew 1-1 away at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
League Two action saw Filip Marschall play 90 minutes in goal for Crewe Alexandra, as they were held at home to Bradford City in a 1-1 draw in the early kick-off, while Rico Richards started and played 78 minutes as Port Vale fell 1-0 at home to Walsall.
Across Europe, Enzo Barrenechea started and played an hour for Valencia, who lost 1-0 at home to Rayo Vallecano in La Liga, while Samuel Iling-Jr was introduced from the bench for the final six minutes of Bologna’s 2-2 draw at Juventus in Serie A.
Sunday saw another two Villans in action, as Leander Dendoncker completed 90 minutes for Anderlecht who left it late to beat Beerschot 2-1 in the Belgian Pro League, while Philippe Coutinho started and played 66 minutes as Vasco da Gama secured a 2-1 win away at Cuiabá in Brazil.
Lewis Dobbin was an unused substitute for West Bromwich Albion, who held Championship leaders Sheffield United to a 2-2 draw at The Hawthorns.
