Former Chelsea star explains why there is 'every chance' Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool – but tells fans not to worry
Mohamed Salah could be at the top of his game for Liverpool, but he could still leave Anfield in the summer.
This is according to former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino, who hopes Saudi Pro League executives make another move for the Egyptian.
Salah was the subject of £150 million funding Al Ittihad offer last summer, when the SPL held a transfer window of epic proportions.
However, the measure did not materialize and its spending was cut in January.
That could all change this time around according to Cascarino, who is a Liverpool fan and sees the 31-year-old's contract situation as a clue for the future.
“He has been phenomenal, his goal balance is extraordinary and his attitude as a player, the fans love him,” he began.
“But I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves this year, given that he signed a two-year contract with one more year left.
“I imagine it there as the flagship of Saudi football, there is a good chance of that happening.”
Despite the potential loss of their all-time European top scorer, former Chelsea and Aston Villa striker Cascarino doesn't believe there is anything to worry about.
“But Liverpool “The fans will be confident that they can find a replacement,” he added.
“I was very impressed by the way Harvey Elliott He has played this year, he is not at Salah's level in terms of goals and numbers, but he has played very well when he has been called up.
“Their recruitment has been exceptional and I am sure they will be able to find someone to replace Salah when he leaves.
“I've said all the time that you never want to stay with players who think their future lies somewhere else. “I'm not saying that's Salah's situation yet, but if he does it, thank you very much for what you've done for Liverpool and we'll move on.”
