According to Florian Plettenberg, former Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter has agreed to join Brighton & Hove Albion.

In the last 24 hours, David Ornstein reported that the Premier League outfit had officially triggered Rutter’s £40 million release clause at Elland Road.

However, it was believed that the deal would fall on the player in regard to whether he would want to depart Leeds United.

Nevertheless, as stated in the report, the 22-year-old has verbally agreed to join Brighton, with Fabian Hürzeler keen to sign the Frenchman.

It is understood that Rutter and Brighton will go over the final details of the contract later today, with a medical scheduled within the next 72 hours before he is unveiled as the club’s latest recruit.

This would see Rutter join former Mainz midfielder Brajan Gruda at Brighton after a deal between the two clubs was completed on Wednesday evening.

Gruda, Hürzeler, and Mahmoud Dahoud are now all on the Sussex Coast, and with Rutter set to join, there is certainly no shortage of former Bundesliga influence at the AMEX stadium.
