Sunderland are considering a bid from Ipswich for winger Jack Clarke, talkSPORT understands.

The offer for the right-footed left winger is worth £15m plus add-ons, taking it to around £20m.

The 23-year-old has already scored one goal and registered one assist in just two Championship games for the Black Cats this season.

Clarke was arguably the Championship's most impressive star last season, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists.

Having scored an incredible 25 goals in the second division last year, Clarke is beginning to fulfil the potential that shot him to stardom as a teenager.

Today, Clarke is a talismanic figure in a highly youthful and talented society. Sunderland side with Anthony Patterson, Chris Rigg, Dan Neil and Jobe Bellingham.

With two years left on his contract, Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris has urged the player to stay at the Stadium Of Light.

He said: “I think his position with us is perfect.

“Let's not change anything! Stay with us, keep growing because we need this type of players.

“I don’t know about the rest. He’s an important player for us, for sure.”

Clarke, who came through the youth ranks at Leeds, secured a £10m move to Tottenham in the summer of 2019, which meant he was loaned back to the Yorkshire outfit for the 2019/20 season, although this was cut short when the 18-year-old moved to QPR.

Limited to just four appearances for Spurs, Clarke completed a transfer to Sunderland in January 2022 on an initial loan deal that was made permanent following their promotion from League One to the Championship.

Since then, Clarke has scored 28 goals in 114 appearances for the Black Cats.

Ipswich have already been busy this summer making no fewer than 10 signings, including deals for Armando Broja, Omari Hutchinson, Liam Delap, Sammie Szmodics and a loan deal for Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City.
