One hundred and fifty pupils from five local primary schools were invited to attend a special celebration event at Villa Park to commemorate the club’s 150th anniversary season.
The day started with Aston Villa Foundation staff walking pupils from each school to our famous stadium, stopping at points on the walk to talk about key historic buildings and areas to teach the children more about the history of their local community.
Pupils were treated to a series of workshops throughout the day, exploring the history of the club, its origins in football and the area of Aston.
They also learned about the evolution that the club and its local area have undergone during its 150-year history.
To top off the day, pupils took a tour of the stadium and had a Premier League trophy experience.
Kerbside Cobs, the Foundation’s culinary education unit, dished up a delicious lunch and every pupil left Villa Park with a Villa goodie bag.
The event is part of a season-long social action project, actioned by the Foundation’s Primary School Sport and Education team. Later in 2025, students will also explore ways that they can be champions in their schools for supporting the positive development of Aston.
Adam Mountney, 5S class teacher at Yew Tree Primary School shared: “Just a huge thank you firstly for the AV150 event.
“It was absolutely incredible, and the children have not stopped talking about it to their friends. Foundation staff put so much hard work in and it really showed through, we cannot thank you enough.
“Our children struggle with their place in the community, and this really helped them to feel a greater part of it.”
