Unai Emery makes four changes to his starting XI which defeated Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday, ahead of Aston Villa’s UEFA Champions League clash with Bologna.
Captain John McGinn starts the game after returning from injury as a substitute at the weekend, and Jhon Durán – hero against Bayern Munich in Villa’s last Champions League outing – will begin in attack for the first time in this competition.
Ian Maatsen also makes his first Champions League start for the club, with Ezri Konsa back in the defence alongside Pau Torres, who makes his 50th appearance in claret and blue.
Tyrone Mings is named in a senior matchday squad for the first time in over a year, and could turn out for the first time since August 2023.
Robin Olsen returns from injury for a place on the bench alongside Lamare Bogarde, with Boubacar Kamara again amongst the substitutes.
