Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong watched their recent games from the bench, unable to catch a glimpse of the team. However, the Dutch midfielder will not be leaving Barcelona anytime soon, and certainly not in the Middle East.
This was confirmed by his agent Ali Dursun, in comments made to De Telegraaf. The story was originally reported in Diario AS that Dursun was sounding a move to Saudi Arabia for de Jong, with MD carrying the story.
Jorge Mendes: “Whether Lamine Yamal will renew or not? Of course, he will do it soon, he must continue in Barcelona. I can't say if he will renew in a month or two, but it will definitely happen.” @SkySport

“Conversations in Arabia? Totally absurd. It distracts attention from Frenkie's true ambition. He only wants one thing: to be in shape to shine longer at the club he loves and where he feels at home,” explained Dursun.
De Jong is in a complicated situation. With his current deal in 2026, Barcelona want to renew his contract at a much lower rate, or sell him next summer. The inclination seems to be towards the latter, but de Jong seems to want to stay at the club. However, he will also have to consider the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, where he will hope to star for the Netherlands.
