Joe Gauci enjoyed a successful return to Adelaide, helping Australia to beat China PR.
The goalkeeper, who joined Aston Villa from his hometown team in February, was back at the Adelaide Oval for a FIFA World Cup qualifier.
And a crowd of 46,291 – a record for a national team game in the city – turned out to see the Socceroos come from behind to triumph 3-1.
After a draw and a loss to start the third round of qualifying, it was a much-needed win for Gauci and his countrymen.
Gauci, who won his fifth cap for his country, will now look forward to a game against Japan on Tuesday, October 15 (ko 11.35am).
