Gerardo Seoane has three games to save his Borussia Mönchengladbach job

Bild reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach has given head coach Gerardo Seoane three games to save his job after poor showings in recent weeks.

Gladbach’s latest result was a dire 2-1 loss to Augsburg, where they were unable to create any meaningful chances despite dominating the ball.

Then on Monday, director Roland Virkus came out to publically support head coach Seoane despite the poor displays. On his decisions, Virkus said:

” I stand by my emotional criticism. But now we need to objectify the discussion and not just look at those 90 minutes. The fact is that the performance in Augsburg was not good overall. But to question the overall development because of that game is going too far for me, given the improvements mentioned.”

Seoane has now been given the international break and three games to turn things around, if not, then he will likely be relieved of his duties.

Gladbach’s next three games are against Heidenheim, Mainz and Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Pokal. However, it would also make sense to keep Seoane until the November international break which would give the new coach time.

The issue is that the former Bayer Leverkusen head coach is not only the problem, Vikrus is also at fault. Since taking over from Max Eberl, he has made several questionable decisions not only in coaching hires but also in transfers. Whether that be not selling a player at the right time, or not investing in problem areas in the squad.

So if Gladbach wants to follow in the footsteps of Stuttgart, who Virkus has stated is an inspiration, changes will be made not only in the dugout but above the head coach as well.
