Getafe were handed a heavy punishment by the Spanish Football Federation earlier this week after one of their supporters racially abused Marcos Acuna during Sevilla's 1-0 win at the Coliseum last weekend. The stadium will be partially closed for the next three home games of Los Azulones, and they have also been fined.

Getafe president Angel Torres spoke to COPE's El Partidazo (via Brand) on the matter Thursday. He confirmed that the individual who abused Acuna has been identified, and that plans are already in place to ban him from the club.

“The fan is already located. He is 47 years old, he is a member of the club and he is in the hands of the Civil Guard, and we have reported him.

“We have to remove this partner. You have to be called, you have to be notified, we have a regulation. I think it's five years, but if it was for life … well, (I would do it) for life.”

It's nice to see that Getafe they took the matter so strongly, because that is how it should be treated. Racism is a real problem in Spanish football, as has been shown over the last 12-18 months, and we need to do more to prevent these incidents from happening again and again.
