Giorgi Mamardashvili is close to joining Liverpool. The Premier League giants have submitted a second bid for the 23-year-old goalkeeper, and the fee is much closer to the asking price set by Valencia owner Peter Lim.
It is expected that an agreement will be reached in the coming weeks. However, Mamardashvili did not join Liverpool with immediate effect, since the idea is that he will arrive in 2025 – probably once Alisson Becker has left, thus opening the starting place at Anfield.
It has been reported that Mamardashvili will join AFC Bournemouth on loan for the rest of the season, thus gaining experience in the Premier League before joining Liverpool. However, Geo Team (via Relief) reported that the Georgian stopper rejected this option, as he would prefer to stay at Valencia for one more year.
Liverpool would have no objections, and obviously, Valencia it wouldn't be either. It means they could keep their world-class goalkeeper until next summer, thus improving their chances of finishing higher in La Liga.
