One of the players to watch for the remainder of the summer transfer window will be Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia. The 23-year-old is coming off a stellar campaign with the Catalans, and has played a major role in their immediate return to La Liga, via the Segunda play-offs.
Garcia has been heavily linked with Arsenal in recent weeks, but they are not the only club considering a move for the talented “custodian”. Brand they reported that Girona is also excited, and recently they had an opening offer rejected by Spanish.
Los Pericos have no plans to sell Garcia this summer, and the only way a departure has happened is if his release clause of 25 million euros has been activated. There is little chance of Girona doing this, especially considering the fact that it would not be a nailed down starter at Montilivi, as Michel Sanchez already has Paulo Gazzaniga in his squad. That would give Arsenal a significant advantage.
