Girona has not had a very good season up to this stage. Michel Sanchez's side are in 12th position in La Liga, and have also lost three of their four league stage games in the Champions League. It is in defense that the Catalans have particularly struggled, with 25 goals conceded in 16 games across both competitions.
Paulo Gazzaniga didn't do too badly, but he is still seen as a weak link in the Girona team. Reserve goalkeeper Pau Lopez has not yet been able to challenge him, and it could be that a new signing is sought in 2025.
According to FOX Sports (via ED), Girona is one of the clubs that have registered their interest in Alex Padilla, who did well when called by Athletic Club this season. However, his chances of making further first-team appearances will be limited when Unai Simon returns in the coming months.
Padilla may seek a move away in 2025 in view of more regular first-team football. Gerona could offer this, although the young Mexican is also wanted by Benfica and Juventus.
