Graeme Souness believes Mo Salah has already secured his next move away from Liverpool amid his shocking post-match comments

Mohamed Salah has already decided to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, according to Graeme Souness.

This comes after the striker fueled speculation over his future following the Reds' 3-0 thrashing of Manchester Unitedwhere he seemed to hint that this would be his last season at Anfield.

Salah I enjoyed a pleasant Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford, attending Luis Diaz twice in the first half before sealing the three points with a own goal in 56 minutes.

But it was his comments after the match that caused the biggest stir, as he seemed… suggests he will leave the club when his current contract expires next summer.

Speaking to Sky Sports afterwards, the 32-year-old said: “I had a good summer, I had a lot of time to work on myself and think positively because, as you know, this is my last year at the club.

“I just want to enjoy it and not think about it. I feel free to play football and we'll see what happens next year.”

“I came to the game and said: 'Look, it could be the last time'. Nobody at the club had talked to me about contracts yet, so I thought: 'OK, I'll play my last season and we'll see at the end of the season'.”

Salah's unexpected revelation surprised many but led pundits to speculate whether the Egyptian had been speaking literally when he claimed this was simply the final year of his current contract.

But the former Reds captain Sensation He believes his choice of words was not a mistake and suggested Salah has probably decided his future away from the club when his contract expires.

Union Jim White and Simon Jordan Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I think he's made up his mind. I think he's got something planned.”

He continued: “Yeah, looking back at it, I think it didn't go the way he wanted it to because I think he tried to bounce back from that more in the interview on Sky yesterday.”

Souness then speculated on Salah's motivation for moving elsewhere, with Saudi Arabia being a possible destination.

He continued: “You know, there's also his family to consider. His wife might want to go to Saudi Arabia. He might want to take his children back to an Arabic-speaking country.

“These are things we cannot answer.”

And while Jordan admitted he also expects Salah to leave at the end of the season, he appeared to cast doubt on his suggestion that talks over a new contract had not taken place at the club.

He said: “I mean, ultimately I assume his representative will have had conversations, whether he had a direct conversation or not is a different matter. And people can play with words.

“I always assumed I would go to Saudi Arabia.”

Jordan also pointed out that Salah's age means Liverpool will have to prepare for life without their talisman at some point in the near future, regardless of when he eventually decides to leave.

He added: “I look at it and say that eventually there will come a time when Liverpool will move on after Salah.

“Whether it's this year or any other year, Liverpool as a football club will continue to evolve and continue to be successful.

Meanwhile, Souness discussed other possible destinations for the attacker if he leaves Merseyside next summer and teased a potentially sensational move for the star.

He reflected: “It would have been almost impossible for him not to have received offers from the big names in Saudi Arabia.

“Wanted to real Madrid Carry it for a couple of years?

“It's not an area they need to strengthen, but he's been very good during his time at Liverpool. Anyone would sign him.”
