Guirassy, Ito and Co.: Stuttgart quintet have significant exit clauses

0

Stuttgart are on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League for the first time since the 2009/10 campaign, but they could lose up to five key players in the summer.

Although contracted until 2026, Serhou Guirassy, the club’s top scorer with 19 goals in 17 games across all competitions this season, has a reported €17.5m release clause, which will become active in the summer. Alongside a list of Premier League clubs, Atlético Madrid and Milan have shown interest in the 27-year-old, meaning a departure in the summer transfer window is likely.

Not only that, Kicker report that Hiroki Ito, Waldemar Anton, Enzo Millot and Chris Führich all have exit clauses between the range of €25m and €30m. Although a significant fee, losing this quintet would be a huge blow to Stuttgart’s Champions League aspirations.

Will Deniz Undav be too expensive for Stuttgart?

Undav, on loan from Brighton, is experiencing the best form of his career. When the German joined Stuttgart, the Bundesliga side had a reported purchase option of €12m, but this is performance related.

With 14 league goals this season, the fee is only going to rise. What’s more, it’s likely the forward will be a part of Germany’s Euro 2024 squad, while it’s previously reported that VfB’s option to buy Undav currently stands at around €20m, which could yet rise further.

VfB sport director Fabian Wohlgemuth is already in discussion with Brighton about various payment methods. It would a crying shame should Undav become too expensive for Stuttgart when the player wishes to stay for good.
