goalkeeper – Robert Sanchez kept his first clean sheet after seven Premier League games against Aston Villa on Sunday. He could retain his place between the sticks and look to add to that record against Southampton in Chelsea's next game.
Defenders – Wesley Fofana suffered a hamstring injury last weekend and needed to be substituted, before being replaced by Benoit Badiashile in the heart of the backline. The 23-year-old could partner with Levi Colwill.
Marc Cucurella is expected to retain his place at left back, although there could be a change to the right side with Malo Gusto possibly replacing Moisés Caicedo. However, that does not mean that the South American will go to the bench, as he could return to his original position in midfield.
Lavia and Sancho could leave
Midfielders – The possible reintroduction of Moisés Caicedo in the team's engine room could come at the expense of Romeo Lavia. The former Brighton midfielder could form a familiar double pivot and Enzo Fernandez is also likely to start.
Cole Palmer is in excellent form and could continue playing as the team's attacking midfielder, while Pedro Neto could switch wings and move from the right wing to the left. The vacant position on the right flank could belong to Noni Madueke, who was given a rare rest against Aston Villa, meaning Jadon Sancho could miss the attacking setup for the game against Villa.
Forward – Nicolas Jackson is enjoying good form. The former Villarreal goalscorer has missed his fair share of opportunities but remains Enzo Maresca's preferred option to lead the line, and that is unlikely to change against Southampton either.
