Hansi Flick's position on Luis Diaz, Nico Williams and the left wing debate at Barcelona

Barcelona have been heavily linked with a left-wing signing this summer, without a natural wide player who is used to operating there currently in their squad, although Raphinha, Joao Felix and Ansu Fati have played regularly. The two names most strongly linked with the club are Liverpool Luis Diaz and the Athletic Club Nico Williams.

Given the cost of both, there has been a consistent line of reports that neither will come unless Barcelona secure the sale, and in that case, the key would be Raphinha. However, the debate between Diaz and Williams has been heated among the Barcelona fanbase, with one offering more experience and more goals, the other more of a problem for defenses and plenty of room for growth.

So far it has been presented as the “club” – presumably the directors and perhaps the president – that prefers Williams, while the Director Sporting Deco feels that Diaz makes more sense. Sport Now they say manager Hansi Flick is paying more attention to Williams. Hull City winger Jaden Philogene is also an alternative if his financial situation makes Diaz or Williams impractical. The same outlet is not even that a midfielder remains the priority before a winger, which means that the budget for each winger will have to wait a few weeks.
