When Harry Kane joined Bayern Munich last summer, there was great expectation placed on him and the Bayern squad.
However, while the England captain proved why Der Rekordmeister broke their transfer record for his services, registering 44 goals and 12 assists in 45 appearances for the club last season, Thomas Tuchel’s side ultimately won nothing.
This begged the question of whether Kane was a waste of money, with suggestions that Bayern should have used the €95 million to strengthen other areas of the side.
Nevertheless, with Vincent Kompany now in charge at the Allianz Arena, there could be a new era about to start in Bavaria.
For Kane himself, the upcoming campaign could also be the perfect opportunity to finally lift his first career trophy.
Speaking to SportBild, the former Tottenham Hotspur striker revealed his goals for the season:
“I want to keep scoring goals and help the team. But the main goal is to win titles. We have to get Bayern back to winning titles. That’s my goal, and that’s the club’s goal. It won’t be easy, but we have a great coach, we have a lot of fresh energy, and high intensity in training. You will see that in the games too.”
“I’m very excited to see how it goes. I’m very excited to see how things will go with the new coach and the way we play. We’ll have a lot of the ball and get a lot of chances. For me, that’s the perfect way to play. I hope I’ll get a lot of chances and put a few of them away.”
Therefore, with change underway at Bayern, will they be able to dethrone Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, or will they target the Champions League, with the final scheduled to be at the Allianz Arena?
