'He knocked me off my chair': Mark Goldbridge challenges Gabby Agbonlahor over her controversial Manchester United views
Gabby Agbonlahor has been forced to defend her controversial views on Manchester United legends Gary Neville and Nemanja Vidic..
talkSPORT presenter and Red Devils Fan Mark Goldbridge has insisted the former Aston Villa striker's shots at the duo almost caused him to fall off his seat.
Agbonhalor claimed that Neville, who won eight Premier League titles at Old Trafford, “wasn't very good” and easy to play against.
And he also insisted that Serbian icon Vidic is the most overrated defender in top-flight history, despite being named Premier League Player of the Season in both 2009 and 2011.
By appearing on the Breakfast show, Goldbridge was ready to challenge Agbonlahor for having left his thoughts in a state of shock.
The YouTuber said: “The one who almost knocked me off my chair last week was the Gary Neville one if I'm honest, and Vidic's too!
“Why do you dedicate yourself to defending legendary Premier League defenders?”
Agbonlahor defended himself and stated: “But what I said about both players was when I played against them. Not against other players.
“There will be players who played against video and say, 'Oh, the best defender in the Premier League,' and some players thought it was quite easy.
“Look how many times (Fernando) Torres found it quite easy against Vidic. Gary Neville in his later years was not the best Gary Neville played in his early years.
“When I played against him, he was not at his best because he was older. My matches against these players were not difficult for me.”
When asked if she would say Neville is the best right-back in the Premier League, Gabby commented: “After Kyle Walker, he's the best for me. He's got it all.”
“I wouldn't say Gary Neville would be the best right-back of all time, no.
“Defenders: John Terry, (Vincent) Kompany, (Rio) Ferdinand, Ledley King.
“I would put them before Vidic if I play against them because of my personal performances against those players.”
Goldbridge wasn't having his say as he reinforced his opinion that Neville is the best right-back in Premier League history.
He said: “That's a convenient way out, isn't it? Because you would have seen football beyond playing it.”
“Gary Neville is, in my opinion, the best right-back in the Premier League. His problem is that he is too humble. In relation to his own ability, he is the first to say: 'I wasn't that good.'
“I value Walker, but Neville is hugely underrated. I've seen him play against (Luis) Figo and bag him, he was a fantastic right-back.”
