'He spat out his dummy': Ange Postecoglou is the big loser, but Brentford winner is 'as good as anything else' in the Premier League
Tottenham and Newcastle kicked off an exciting day of Premier League action, but Brentford and Bournemouth did everything they could to steal the headlines.
Spurs continued their 'Ange-ball' style but suffered a third defeat in four as Newcastle and talisman. Alejandro Isak They continued their rise up the table with another victory, this time 2-1 in north London.
Elsewhere, another victory for Bournemouth1-0 against Everton kept them just one point behind champions Manchester City, who defeated West Ham 4-1 to go away. Julen Lopetegui in big trouble.
Brentford, who have been stellar at home but terrible away, picked up their first three points on the road in dominant fashion by defeating a woeful Southampton 5-0.
And there was also frustration for title contenders Chelsea. and arsenalwho drew 1-1 against Crystal Palace and Brighton respectively.
With big wins but even bigger defeats on the order of the day, the talkSPORT pair Jason Cundy and Jamie O'Hara had plenty to choose from among the winners and losers of the action.

Winners
Bryan Mbeumo
Long considered the most underrated player in the Premier League, Bryan Mbeumo He's making sure everyone knows him now as he leads his team following the departure of Ivan Toney.
In Brentford's 5–0 victory over Southampton, he scored two goals and assisted another to take his season total to 13 goals and three assists in the league.
At just 25 years old and with a contract until 2026, it surely won't be long until Champions League teams are knocking on his door, and Cundy can't believe they haven't already.
“Bryan Mbeumo on the right side is as good as anyone outside of Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka Right now he is very good,” said the former Chelsea defender.
“Thomas Frank was asked about his departure in January and he said something like 'good luck with that', but let me tell you, they have shown in the past that they will sell.
“They don't want to because Ivan Toney is gone, but this boy, his goals, his assists, he has it all, he is as good as anyone in the Premier League.
“I said Arsenal could look at him, but it's going to cost a lot. I'm looking at Liverpool, if Salah leaves they should look at him.”
Andoni Iraola
It wasn't the most exciting game on Saturday, but it certainly saw the best goal when a rookie David Brooks The volley earned Bournemouth a 1-0 victory over Everton.
The result took nine wins and 33 points from 20 games, and the Cherries are on course to erase their best Premier League points tally.
In fact, they could even travel to Europe for the first time, and Cundy attributes that to coach Andoni Iraola.
“They are flying high, they are now three points behind the top four, that is incredible for them, it is incredible,” he said.
“For them to be behind Man City by a point, he certainly deserves to be there.”
Antonio Gordon
Newcastle extended their run as a Premier League team in form by making it five wins in a row in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Isak incredibly scored in seven consecutive top-flight games, equaling Newcastle's all-time record.
However, it was his teammate who left Cundy most impressed, as Anthony Gordon slots into the win column.
“He is doing good things and could have scored another goal, he has had another stellar start to the season and (the England manager) Thomas Tuchel “I was there to see it,” he said. “Well done to him, and Newcastle are a problem.”
O'Hara added: “I really like it, Newcastle are back and flying and Gordon is a big part of that.”
Losers
Ivan Juric
There are already three games and three defeats for Ivan Juric, but this was the worst of all.
Blasted 5-0 at home by a Brentford team who had yet to win away, O'Hara had to put Southampton's new manager in the losers' group.
“It's a disastrous class he offers every week,” said the former Spurs midfielder. “They were beaten 5-0 at home by a team that never wins away from home.”
Cundy wanted to defend the Croatian, but quickly changed his mind.
“He has taken over a mob, it is hard for him. “It’s there for a reason, but they are a bunch,” he began.
“He is there, though. Losing at home with Brentford's away record this season, they have more points today than in the whole of 2024, so he's there.”
Frank Lampard
Moving away from the Premier League, it was a division legend who grabbed the headlines in the Championship.
Frank Lampard was on course for another win as Coventry manager as Milan van Ewijk put them ahead away from home at Norwich until injury time.
However, Amankwah Forson turned the game around, not only tying in the 91st minute, but also adding a surprising winner four minutes later.
Feeling sorry for his former Blue teammate, Cundy said: “To be leading so late in the game… the goal and the way Norwich celebrate, they can't believe they've equalised, and a few minutes later they get the goal.
“Brutal. Poor old Frank. There's a saying in football: if you can't win, don't lose!”
Ange Postecoglou
We're back to square one with today's final choice: it's Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.
The Australian made it one win in eight league games with the loss to Newcastle, and things went especially bad when an injury to Radu Dragusin left him without a centre-back on the field.
On top of that, Gordon's first goal came from a handball from Joelinton, which led to another painful interview as he told talkSPORT's Sam Matterface about the game not being a “fair and level playing field”.
Listening to the interview again, Cundy commented: “Big Ange, she spit out her doll, her toy pig, she threw her teddy bear at her…
“Sam Matterface hasn't done anything wrong, they were all valid questions, so why is he so cheerful?
“The reason you get the same question every week is because you get pumped every week. Help yourself and come be interviewed after a victory.”
