Real Madrid are preparing to face Liverpool in their most challenging Champions League game of the season so far. The reigning champions have already lost twice in the competition, so they cannot afford any more slip-ups.
Ace for AS DiaryCarlo Ancelotti gave his assessment of his team ahead of the mammoth fixture, which comes after back-to-back victories.
“The team is good. We have improved, we are more solid. Now we have a very demanding team in front of us. It is a great opportunity to return to our best level. I have total confidence that it will be a great match. We will be competitive.”
Lucas Vazquez is back from the injury he sustained against Osasuna earlier this month, allowing Federico Valverde to return to a midfield role. However, Ancelotti has stated that it is not guaranteed that the former will return to the starting line-up immediately.
“Valverde did very well, he has no doubts. But it was an emergency and Lucas came back. He felt good. It's an option. I can choose (between the two).
Ancelotti also confirmed that Raul Asencio will keep his place in the Real Madrid line-up, partnering Antonio Rudiger in the center of the defense.
“I see him well, and with personality. He is ready and focused. He has done very well in the last two games and I am convinced that he will do well tomorrow.”
