‘Hunger to win’ – Granit Xhaka fired up ahead of Bayer Leverkusen’s Europa League clash against West Ham
Granit Xhaka was the player present at Bayer Leverkusen’s press conference on Wednesday afternoon, and speaking ahead tomorrow’s Europa League clash against West Ham, the 31-year-old’s complete focus is on their upcoming games, not allowing their Bundesliga title winning celebrations hinder their preparation.
“If you are in a quarter final the hunger is always there to win,” said Xhaka. “We have spoken enough about Sunday, we became champions, but we know that tomorrow is an important game and just like the rest of our league games. Everyone is fit and hopefully we will have a great game.”
Bayer Leverkusen currently hold a 2-0 lead over West Ham after goals from Jonas Hofmann and Victor Boniface secured an important win just one week ago. Since then, Bayer have clinched their maiden Bundesliga title which ended Bayern Munich’s 11-year dominance but with a potential treble-winning campaign on the cards, the club’s focus now turns towards their Europa League quarter-final against West Ham at the London Stadium.
