Ince, known as 'The Guv'nor' during his career, played for the legendary coach at Manchester United from 1989 to 1995 and became one of the club's and England's best midfielders.

Coming from West Ham, he won a couple of Premier League With titles and FA Cups, Ince was instrumental in establishing Ferguson's United as the dominant force at the dawn of a new era in England, but things did not always go well.

At one point in particular, Ince lost his cool over what he thought was a minor mistake that Ferguson exaggerated.

“But for him it was all about standards and doing the right thing at all times and not deviating from them, and that shows the greatness of the man. But me, being the character I was at the time, resisted and started having a shouting match.”

talkSPORT host Jim White then asked about rumours that four players had to restrain Ince, who jokingly replied: “I thought it was eight, but I'll take four.”

“I was trying to do something,” he continued. “I don’t think it was the right thing to do. Looking back now, I don’t think players should be fighting a coach, any coach.”

However, such was the intensity of the moment that it prompted a period of silence between manager and star player, which lasted until Ferguson nearly made Ince snap.

Ince explained: “That was it, we got back on the bus, he didn’t speak to me, I didn’t speak to him.

“We came back (to training) on ​​Thursday and we were playing tennis with our heads held high and Fergie was the umpire. I hadn’t spoken to him for 48 hours, I hadn’t said good morning or anything.
