Pep Guardiola did not hold back when confronted by persistent autograph seekers, giving them a forceful and heated response.
He city of manchester The chief told the group to “go back to school” and warned them “not to come back again” as they walked around with t-shirts and programs to sign.
Guardiola was returning home fresh from a resounding 8-0 victory over Salford City in the FA Cup third round, setting up a clash against either Leyton Orient or Derby County.
However, upon his return he met a group of autograph hunters to whom he spoke some strong words.
It happened in a parking lot near Guardiola's house, where a group approached him to ask him to sign t-shirts and souvenirs.
Unimpressed, Guardiola quickly called them and attempted to inspire them to follow their dreams rather than relying on his signature for profit.
He urged them not to come again, opening his diatribe against them: “Don't come back, I won't tell you again, I know your faces.
“Go to school and get ready, boys. You are young, so don't be here wasting your time.
“Do you want to live your life doing this honestly?” he questioned. One of the group added quietly that he “used to be a chef.”
However, the title-winning coach didn't stop there, adding: “Keep doing it. Prepare yourself better. Damn, man, this isn't for all people, this is for you.”
“What are your dreams? Tell me, what is it?” Guardiola asked, to which one responded that he wants to be a footballer.
“Where do you dream, my friend? Practice, damn it, practice,” he concluded before leaving.
The 53-year-old has found himself at the center of several headlines this season, particularly during Man City's losing run.
He had a recent incident where he cut his head, leaving scratch marks that made him clarify his comments about self-harm.
The incident with the autograph hunters occurred after Guardiola was captain of the club Kyle Walker wants to explore the option of playing elsewhere.
The 34-year-old asked the manager if he could “explore the options of playing abroad”.
“Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore options to play abroad at the end of his career,” Guardiola said.
“He asked for it two years ago after the treble. Bayern Munich wanted him but the offer was not good enough,” Guardiola said.
“I asked him, the club asked him: 'How important is this?' We cannot understand the success the club had these years without Kyle. It is impossible. He gave us something we didn't have and he has been incredible.
“But now he would like to explore and go to another country. That's why I prefer to play with other players who have their minds here, that's all.”
