I will change teams if Gareth Southgate joins Manchester United, it will be the worst thing Sir Jim Ratcliffe will do, says talkSPORT presenter
talkSPORT's Andy Goldstein is dead set against the prospect of Gareth Southgate joining Manchester United, telling him: “Go to Liverpool!”
England manager Southgate will be one of the main candidates for the position Should Erik ten Hag be sacked in the summer, talkSPORT understands.
Southgate is understood to be held in high regard by Man United's new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group.
Southgate also has a key ally in incoming sporting director Dan Ashworth, who he has worked closely with during the latter's time at the Football Association.
However, he is not held in high regard among some Man United fans, including talkSPORT's Mark Goldbridge, who He does not want Southgate to go near Old Trafford.
Goldstein is another united man fan who is desperate for the move not to happen and doubts it will, going so far as to suggest he would consider changing teams should Southgate be signed.
After being informed of the news by Drive co-host Darren Bent, Goldstein said: “It's nonsense, it's not happening. That conversation hasn't happened.”

“Absolute rubbish…let me tell you now, Erik ten Hag will be there next season, 100 percent. There's no way.”
Goldstein then sent a message to minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who looks after football affairs at the club, saying he would be making a serious mistake by appointing Southgate as Man United manager.

He added: “Sir Jim Ratcliffe, if you are listening now, you will have a mutiny on your hands.
“Sir Jim, I know you listen to talkSPORT, it will be the worst thing you have ever done in your life.”
When Bent asked him why that would be such a mistake, Goldstein replied: “You know why. I don't care that I'm the England manager, I don't care. I'll change my team… Old Trafford will be empty.”
“Go to Liverpool, Gareth. Go to Liverpool… oh, great opportunity.”
Goldstein added: “Sir Jim, the fact that you're laughing tells you everything you need to know…don't do it, Sir Jim.”
