Ian Maatsen's father points to Chelsea and confirms negotiations for his son to stay at Borussia Dortmund
Ian Maatsen's father criticized Chelsea's owners and stated that his son wants to stay at Borussia Dortmund.
Maatsen joined the Bundesliga giants on loan in January after failing to establish himself as a first-team player at Stamford Bridge.
Since then, the 22-year-old He went on to play a key role at Dortmund. on their way to the Champions League semi-finals, scoring in their impressive quarter-final victory over Atlético Madrid.
Maatsen is enjoying his time under manager Edin Terzic and has set his sights on staying at the German club despite other options being on the table.
Maatsen's father Edward says a permanent transfer to the German club would present “a good reset” away from Stamford Bridge for his son before attacking Chelsea's new owners.
“We are working to stay in the club (Dortmund),” said Eduardo International Voetbal.
“The clubs have to fight among themselves. Ian is developing well here and things are not going well Chelsea since they changed ownership.
“At that club it also revolves a lot around money, which sometimes seems more important than the interests of the club. We have more options than Chelsea and Dortmund, but Dortmund has proven to be a good restart.

Maatsen himself admitted that he is open to the various options that have been presented to him since he restarted his career in Germany.

Asked if he regretted staying at Chelsea for the first half of the season, he told the Telegraph: “Yes, it plays with your mind, but I still believed my chance would come if I was patient and worked hard.
“For some reason, it didn't work out and then you have to find a solution and the agreement came between Dortmund and Chelsea. I also have to thank Chelsea for being here and giving me that opportunity.
“I think the belief of the (Dortmund) board, the coach, the technical directors, everyone is on the same page. They all believe in me, that I am a talented player who can perform at the highest level and they gave me this opportunity.
“I think it is special for young players to come to this big club like BVB and show their skills to the whole world. I am very grateful for this opportunity.”
