Ibrahima Konate could be out until the New Year after suffering an injury on Wednesday night, talkSPORT understands.
The Liverpool defender was at his best to help shut out Real Madrid in the Reds' 2-0 victory, but appeared to suffer a knee injury late in the match.
Konate became tangled with Real's young Brazilian winger, Endrick, which left him lying face down on the grass.
And although he was eventually able to complete the 90 minutes, the Frenchman has now confirmed that he is ready to spend some time on the sidelines.
Reports have suggested that Konate faces between five and six weeks of inactivity.
However, talkSPORT's sources understand that Liverpool expect him to return to competition before the end of that period.
Konate took to social media and wrote: “It is very frustrating to suffer this injury right at the end of a big game on Wednesday night.
“Now we begin the recovery process, but one thing I promise is that I will come back and be the best I can be again.
“Thank you for the incredible support at Anfield. Inshallah we will move forward and I will support the team every step of the way.”
