“I can't imagine him turning him down, but maybe it's just my bias. I'm trying to put myself in his shoes, but he didn't grow up a Liverpool fan, did he?

“The reality is that I would be surprised if they offered him the Liverpool manager's job and he turned it down. I would be surprised.”

“He has abandoned this wonderful relationship he has with the Liverpool fans and the affinity he has with the football club and the people.

“He seems (to be) a man of his word, it seems like a genuine reason for him (to leave), I can't think of an ulterior motive behind this for him to then say, 'I'm going to be' working somewhere else.”

Klopp's agent Marc Kosicke recently told Sky Germany that the former Borussia Dortmund boss will accept a year out of football.

Denying any possibility of a tie-up with Bayern, he stated: “Jürgen Klopp will not coach any club or national team for a year after this season. That remains unchanged.”
