Chelsea fan Andy Jacobs couldn't have picked a worse time to leave a match early.
The talkSPORT presenter traveled to Stamford Bridge to watch the Blues host. manchester united in what turned out to be one of the games of the season.
Chelsea 2-0 up, then 3-2 down, and they completed a remarkable turnaround by scoring in the 10th and 11th minutes of stoppage time to win. 4-3.
A stadium full of Chelsea fans were rewarded for making the trip to Stamford Bridge on a rainy night as the heroic Cole Palmer scored twice in stoppage time to complete their comeback.
But Jacobs, the Chelsea superfan, was not among them.
Speaking on talkSPORT's Hawksbee and Jacobs show, the presenter explained exactly why he missed his team's late comeback.
He said: “I left within 90 minutes, I was so angry with myself!
“What made it worse is that the night before I sat for the entire 95 minutes of Brentford against Brighton. Worst game I've ever seen in my life! I didn't leave before the end, but I did.”
And when asked by his co-host Paul Hawksbee what made him leave the game before the final whistle, Jacobs explained that he didn't expect so much action in the final moments of the game.
He said: “I think there are extenuating circumstances, the start was very late, I had to get up early. 6:45 is when I get up to do this show, so it seemed very late to me.”
“It was just pathetic! I've been going to football long enough to know I shouldn't have done it and afterwards I felt like such a waste, I was so mad at myself!”
Palmer's goal in the 111th minute is officially the last game-winning goal in first division history.
The victory lifts Chelsea into the top half of the Premier League table, while Man United remain in sixth place, nine points behind Tottenham.
The comeback is one of the highlights of a season to forget for Chelsea.
Jacobs is well aware that those moments are few and far between for Blues fans these days.
He added: “You might be mad at me, you might think I'm pathetic. But I promise you, none of you could be more mad at me than I am myself.
“I feel cheated! I cheated myself. The amount of times you go to football is very disappointing. Like on Saturday, I stayed the whole time to watch the Burnley game. It was so disappointing that I left there saying: ' What a waste of an afternoon!'
“I deserve it and I'm very, very upset with myself. But I've done it and I can't get it back.
“Every time that moment happens again, I'll always know I wasn't there and it's hard to accept. It's pathetic!
“But anyway, it was a fantastic game.”
