Groves was working for talkSPORT at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, providing updates on the north London derby. that the gunners won 3-2in The Sunday Session with Alex Crook.
Of course, Arsenal fans remember him fondly, as Groves played 205 times for them between 1986 and 1993. He also won two league titles as a Gunner.
Naturally, when his former club took an early 3-0 lead against their bitter rivals, he couldn't contain his joy.

He repeatedly said, “You're not allowed to do that.”
Explaining it all, Groves told talkSPORT Drive: “When Kai Havertz scored the third goal, I celebrated and pumped my fist. Someone has filmed it and in fact the YouTuber who did it, I took a selfie with him during the break. In fact, he thought it was pretty funny.
“This upset some Spurs fans behind me, which I understand. Everyone knows I'm a Gooner and I get excited when I watch Arsenal play.
“I want Arsenal to win. Any game I comment on has to be balanced.
“Everyone knows I'm a big Gooner and everyone knows that when I go to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, I want Arsenal to win.
“But when I comment, I have to be balanced because even when they were coming at us I was saying that, when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg scored the own goal, Spurs were on top and it was against the run of play.
“I can't help that emotion. I can't just sit there and say, 'Oh look, we just went 3-0 up.' That's pretty good.' That's impossible.”
Groves admitted that he understood the reaction of the Tottenham fans.
On the reaction from Spurs fans, he said: “Yeah, I get it. They are as involved and excited in the game as I am.
“You will see me celebrate and raise my fist. They have complained to the stewards and they have come.
“I said I'm sorry, I got a little carried away. I must say that the stewards at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium were absolutely brilliant.
“I think they're trying to convert me!
“The guy who posted it was a bit ironic. “Everyone knows I'm a Gooner.”
