'I'm not a fan': Simon Jordan thinks 'diver' Mohamed Salah is overrated in scathing verdict on Liverpool star
Simon Jordan believes Mohamed Salah is not as good as everyone thinks he is.
Salah is undoubtedly a Liverpool legend who helped them win the Premier League and Champions League, as well as other trophies, during his seven seasons at the club.
The 32-year-old's record has been impressive since arriving from Roma in 2017, scoring 210 goals in 346 games, making him the club's third top scorer. That includes 154 for the Reds in the Premier League.
However, former Crystal Palace owner Jordan is willing to risk the wrath of Liverpool fans by revealing his confessed unpopular opinion.
There have been many speculation on whether Salah will leave this summer, with the Egyptian having one year left on his current contract.
The Saudi Pro League made an audacious £150m bid last summer, but rumors are once again circulating.
TO Touchline scuffle with Jurgen Klopp at West Ham on Saturday only fueled speculation about an exit.
talkSPORT understandsHowever, Liverpool remain confident that he will stay and sign a new contract.
Jordan told talkSPORT: “You wonder if you would have had this if Klopp was there forever.
“I know this is controversial and people will tell me I'm a clown and that I should ride in a clown car, but I'm not a fan of Mo Salah.
“I don't think he's as good as people think he is. I think he goes for it, I think he can be a player in good time.
“I know this will sound ridiculous to people and make me incredibly unpopular if I say it, he's obviously scored a lot of goals, but when the going gets tough some people stand up and fight and some don't.
“I have the feeling that Salah could be one of those. “It's an opinion.”
Jordan also believes Liverpool would not risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.
He continued: “Unless Liverpool get him to sign a new contract, which has to be a prerequisite for him to stay, then they are potentially handing over a lot of money.
“People don't run their club that way. If you look at how Liverpool have spent in the last half decade, they have spent €500 million. Manchester City and Arsenal have spent almost 800 million euros.
“Liverpool tend to do it based on how much they can win. I don't see a situation where Salah is walking out the door in a year's time.
“I also don't see Salah signing a new long-term contract. There is a great opportunity for him to be the first Muslim with superstar status to play in that league.
“I know there is a relationship between the Saudis and the Egyptians, which does not make the Egyptians the top of the food chain ethnically.
“If you want to sell him, you will hardly say that he is for sale in the last year of his contract.”
