Juve are open to selling the 26-year-old who is in the final year of his contract with the Serie A giants.

The Euro 2020 winner could be available for as little as £10m, which could encourage Liverpool to go ahead with a last-minute move.

Comments he made in May 2022 suggest he will have a high approval rating on The Kop after having expressed his admiration for Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

During a Serie A match between Juventus and Lazio, a game in which Chiesa was sitting in the stands, the player was asked who he would prefer to have in his midfield between Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes.

After taking some time to think about the age-old debate, Chiesa responded: “Stevie G.”

Chiesa was part of the Italy squad that won Euro 2020 and joined Juventus from Fiorentina a year later after spending two years on loan at the Vecchia Signora.

He suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in 2022, which kept him out of action for ten months.

At Juventus, Chiesa has won two Coppa Italia and one Supercoppa Italiana.

Chiesa is the son of former Italy, Sampdoria, Parma, Fiorentina and Lazio striker Enrico Chiesa.

The Reds have yet to make any signings this summer, although they are close to announcing the acquisition of Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Mamardashvili is set to join for a fee of around £30m, however, he will be loaned back to Valencia for the remainder of the season before joining up with his Liverpool teammates next summer.

Liverpool are fourth in the Premier League after winning their first two league games under new manager Arne Slot.
