John McGinn, Ezri Konsa and Ollie Watkins each started for Scotland and England respectively on Monday night as they stepped up their preparations for this summer’s European Championship.
McGinn completed 90 minutes for the Tartan Army and claimed an assist as they triumphed 2-0 over Gibraltar in Portugal.
The Villa skipper set up Scotland’s second goal in the 85th minute as his inch-perfect left-footed cross was volleyed home by Che Adams.
Scotland, who are still to name their final squad, face Finland on Friday in their final pre-Euro 2024 warm-up fixture before opening the tournament against hosts Germany next Friday.
Villa team-mates Konsa and Watkins also started for England as they recorded a 3-0 victory against Bosnia and Herzegovina at St James’ Park.
Both enjoyed chances to open the scoring during a goalless first half, before Cole Palmer’s penalty, awarded for a shirt pull on Konsa from a corner, handed the Three Lions the lead on the hour mark.
Watkins was replaced shortly afterwards while versatile defender Konsa completed 90 minutes in the north east as England, also still yet to name their final squad, ran out comfortable winners.
Gareth Southgate’s side finalise their preparations against Iceland on Friday night before starting their Euro 2024 campaign against Serbia next Sunday.
