- Ajax Vs. Aston Villa – Thu, Mar 7th 2024, 17:45
Tim Iroegbunam says it’s all to play for between Aston Villa and Ajax after a goalless draw in Amsterdam on Thursday night.
The sides will meet again for the second leg of their Round of 16 tie at Villa Park next week with nothing to separate them after a competitive clash in the Netherlands.
Villa’s young midfielder was pleased with the result he and his teammates secured at Johan Cruijff ArenA.
“It went well,” he reflected.
“It’s always tough coming away from home, especially against an historic club like Ajax.
“The fact that we came away with a draw is a good thing and it’s all to play for in the second leg.”
Iroegbunam made just his second start for the club against Ajax almost two years on from his first appearance in the starting XI.
The 20-year-old equipped himself well alongside Douglas Luiz in midfield, and he was happy to play his part for the team.
He said: “When the gaffer told me earlier, I was excited and I just couldn’t wait to play.
“It’s an amazing stadium and the fans were amazing. A great place to make my second start for the club.”
