As reported by Sky Germany, Alphonso Davies could be set to stay at Bayern Munich and reject the advances made by Real Madrid.
Throughout the course of this season, Real Madrid have been flirting with the prospect of signing Davies at the end of the campaign. With the Canadian’s contract set to expire at the Allianz Arena in 2025, Los Blancos have been planning on acquiring the left-back for a cut price in the summer.
As well as this, in recent weeks, it has been reported that Real Madrid had already verbally agreed to a deal with Davies’ representatives that would see them eventually sign the 23-year-old either this summer or at the end of the following campaign. Regardless, there could be a surprising U-turn in this transfer saga.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Bayern had offered Davies a new deal, which would increase his annual salary to €13 million. This new contract would also see the Canadian remain in Bavaria until 2029; however, it was believed that the two parties were far away in regard to the salary.
It is understood that Real have offered Davies €20 million a year to move to Spain, a price that Der Rekordmeister would be unwilling to match. Nevertheless, there is hope that Davies will choose to remain in the Bundesliga.
Speaking to Sky Germany, Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund commented on the current situation: “It’s not at all unlikely. There are conversations, and the conversations are good and open. And then we’ll see how it turns out in the next few weeks. Phonzy feels very comfortable in Munich. He likes playing for FC Bayern.”
Therefore, it is no clearer as to who will boast Davies’ signature in the long run. Nevertheless, it can be expected that if the left-back fails to give Bayern an answer by the summer, then he will be sold to prevent the record champions from failing to receive a transfer fee for his services.
