‘It’s important not to panic’ – Harry Kane

Harry Kane suffered a difficult night in front of goal when Bayern Munich suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa, who handed the Rekordmeister their first defeat in the group/league stage of the Champions League after going 41 games unbeaten.

But after coming in for some criticism for not showing up in the big games, Kane, who has failed to score against Bayer Leverkusen and Villa this season, warned his teammates ‘not to panic’ following their loss.

Analysing the game on CBS Sport Golazo, Kane said: “We dominated for large spells. Especially in the second half I thought we played better and kept them in the final third. We had chances. Their ‘keeper had an amazing game. It felt like we could have been out there all night and the ball just wouldn’t go in the back of the net.

“Sometimes you have nights like this. The most important thing from our point of view is not to panic. We’ll go away and look at where we can improve and try and implement in the league and also in the next Champions League game.”

Kane scored three against Holstein Kiel, four against Dinamo Zagreb and one against Werder Bremen but when it’s truly mattered, against Leverkusen and Villa, Kane has struggled in front of goal and with a difficult Bundesliga game at Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, it’s important for England’s top scorer to find the net against a top team soon.
